Some big changes at Tata Motors are underway, as Guenter Butschek will step down from his role as CEO and MD at the end of June 2021. This announcement comes just two months after its ex-global design head, Pratap Bose, parted ways with the company.
This announcement marks the end of a five-year tenure for Butschek at Tata Motors after taking over the reins in 2016. The outgoing CEO and MD had informed the company of relocating to Germany at the end of his contract for personal reasons. That being said, Guenter Butschek’s exit from Tata Motors won’t be complete just yet, as he will stay on as a consultant till the end of this fiscal year.
Alongside this announcement, the company has appointed Girish Wagh, who is also the president of the commercial vehicles section, as executive director. He will begin his role from July 2021. Girish Wagh, along with Shailesh Chandra (president, passenger vehicles segment), and Thierry Bollore (CEO, Jaguar Land Rover) will continue to work alongside the Chairman, N Chandrasekaran.
As for Tata Motors’ future plan, we’re expecting the production-spec HBX mini SUV to launch in the country around Diwali 2021. Another upcoming model could be the all-electric version of the Altroz hatchback.
